Dr. Chi (David) Cheng is a Senior Lecturer and ARC Future Fellow in the School of Chemical Engineering at UNSW Sydney. He leads the Nanofluidics and Advanced Separations Laboratory and is a core member of the UNESCO Centre for Membrane Science and Technology. His research pioneers 2D nanofluidics and atomically thin nanoporous membranes for high-precision molecular separations in water, gas, and organic solvent systems. His work has been recognized with the MSA Membrane Science Award, ARC Future Fellowship, Australian Endeavour Research Fellowship, and selection as a U.S. DOE Geothermal Lithium Extraction Prize Semifinalist. Dr. Cheng has delivered over 20 invited talks and holds key leadership roles, including Organizing Co-Chair of the Membrane Society of Australasia Annual Conference and Early Career Editorial Board Member for Advanced Membranes. His research addresses critical challenges in energy and resource security.
