Prof. Iacopi is an imec Fellow and the inaugural Director of the imec Indiana R&D Center. She graduated with a MSc in Physics at La Sapienza in Rome (1996) and obtained a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium (2004).
With over 20 years’ international industrial and academic expertise in the miniaturisation of semiconductor technologies, her career has started off in Industry, leading R&D projects for IMEC (Belgium) and Globalfoundries Inc (USA) in electronic devices, their interconnects and packaging. Her Academic career started in 2012, with a Future Fellowship from the Australian Research Council. Over 2016-2024, she was Full Professor of Nanoelectronics at the University of Technology Sydney. Francesca is also an IEEE Fellow and Adjunct Professor at Purdue University, USA.
